In early September, the Ministry of Environment and Energy, through the Climate Agency (ApC), disbursed payments totalling €257.26 million, reinforcing its commitment to environmental sustainability, energy efficiency and the climate transition.
Main destinations of the payments
- €172.3 million to E-Redes, from European Emissions Trading Scheme (CELE) revenues, for tariff compensation on the National Electric System
- €36.6 million to the Incentiva + TP programme, supporting public transport
- €25 million to water utilities such as Águas do Norte and Águas do Vale do Tejo
- €4.75 million to the PRORIOS 2030 programme, for river and stream restoration
- €2.1 million to municipal forest technical offices
These payments have a direct impact on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving energy efficiency and promoting sustainable mobility — central pillars of the National Energy and Climate Plan (PNEC 2030) — reinforcing Portugal's commitment to carbon neutrality and a just energy transition.
