The government launched a €400 million package with 31 measures to reinforce the security and resilience of the national electricity system.
The Anti-Blackout Package announced by the government envisages a total investment of €400 million and comprises 31 measures to strengthen the security and resilience of the national electricity system, preventing supply failures, especially during periods of high demand or low renewable output.
Areas of Action
- Reinforcement of the transmission and distribution grid
- Adoption of storage solutions to balance supply and demand
- Digitalisation and modernisation of grid management
- Contingency plans and rapid emergency response
- Support for vulnerable consumers in critical situations
The package is aligned with the National Energy and Climate Plan 2030 (PNEC 2030) and the Climate Framework Law (Law No. 98/2021), and is backed by EU Regulation 2019/941 on risk preparedness in the electricity sector. In Portugal, DGEG and ERSE are responsible for planning and executing these measures.
