The Portugal Renewable Energy Summit 2024, organised by APREN – the Portuguese Renewable Energy Association, took place in Lisbon on 4 and 5 November, bringing together experts, industry leaders and government representatives to discuss advances, challenges and trends in renewable energy in Portugal and Europe.

Topics on the agenda

  • Electricity market reform and implementation of the Renewable Energy Directive III.
  • Onshore and offshore wind, solar, green hydrogen and energy storage.
  • Integration of renewables into the grid and adapting infrastructure to intermittency.
  • Financing and attracting private investment and European funds for the sector.

Confirmed speakers included Maria da Graça Carvalho, Minister for the Environment and Climate Action (who closed the event), Andris Piebalgs, former EU Commissioner for Energy, Giles Dickson, CEO of WindEurope, and Nelson Lage, president of ADENE, with panels also dedicated to the institutional licensing model.
