Major Constraints Study — Hybridisation and Repowering of a Wind Farm
Major constraints study supporting the photovoltaic hybridisation and repowering of a wind farm in northern Portugal.
StartSimple coordinated and prepared an Environmental Major Constraints Study (EGC) for a photovoltaic hybridisation and repowering process at a wind farm in northern Portugal. The study analysed possible environmental restrictions, including screening against existing territorial management instruments in the area and ecological and landscape considerations, aiming to secure the project's environmental viability ahead of the Environmental Impact Assessment process.
The wind farm repowering, under Decree-Law No. 15/2022, involved replacing the generating equipment without increasing the number of turbine towers, complemented by the integration of a photovoltaic component at the same site.
Project highlights
- Screening against territorial management instruments
- Ecological and landscape assessment ahead of the AIA
- Wind farm repowering combined with PV hybridisation
