StartSimple carried out an Environmental Feasibility Study for the installation of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Portugal's Centro region, aiming to assess in advance the main environmental constraints and restrictions associated with the project. The work integrated analysis of descriptors such as sensitive areas, vegetation, flora, fauna, water resources, fire hazard, easements, land use and municipal mapping.
This assessment identified the zones with the greatest potential to host the facility with the lowest possible impact, helping the developer reduce uncertainty and optimise the preliminary layout ahead of the next licensing stages.
