2026 Agriculture Support: EUR 15M for Energy Efficiency and Renewables

Portaria No. 481/2025/1, published in the Official Gazette on 31 December 2025, regulates EUR 15 million in support for energy efficiency in agriculture, funded by the Fundo Ambiental and managed by IFAP, I.P. The incentive is non-repayable, paid after the investment is proven, and is aimed at farmers, cooperatives, producer organisations and irrigation associations with a regularised tax and social security status.

Three pillars of the incentive

The support rests on three pillars: modernising equipment, replacing outdated irrigation systems with low-consumption solutions; producing clean energy through solar panels and biomass; and battery storage, which lets solar energy generated during the day be used at night, when irrigation is more efficient.

• Checking whether the land is classified as National Agricultural Reserve (RAN)
• Submitting the Non-Agricultural Land Use Request in RAN beforehand, where applicable
• Preparing budgets and the investment’s descriptive statement before the call opens
