The National Ecological Reserve (REN) is a biophysical structure covering areas that are particularly sensitive and important to territorial ecological stability. Its legal regime protects natural resources, prevents risks and ensures that interventions are compatible with spatial planning.
How prior communication works
The procedure involves identifying the activity, preparing the technical documentation, submitting it to the competent authority and receiving its decision. The legal framework is based on Decree-Law No. 166/2008 and the amendments introduced by Decree-Law No. 124/2019.
