APREN's Licensing Guide for Onshore Renewable Projects
APREN, together with APA and DGEG, launched a guide consolidating the licensing procedures for onshore renewable projects in Portugal, initially focused on wind and solar.
The Licensing Guide for Onshore Renewable Energy Projects was launched, an initiative led by APREN – Portuguese Renewable Energy Association, in collaboration with APA – Portuguese Environment Agency and DGEG – Directorate-General for Energy and Geology. The consultancy BioInsight also took part in drafting it. The goal is to simplify the licensing process, giving developers and licensing authorities a clearer understanding of the steps involved in developing wind, solar, hybrid and battery storage projects.
The first version of the guide covers only onshore projects, focusing on wind and solar, leaving out for now the licensing of offshore projects and renewable hydrogen, which require more complex procedures still being defined. The document will be updated as legislative changes occur, arriving at a time of increasingly ambitious targets both at European level (the REPowerEU strategy) and nationally (PNEC 2030).
